And the love for maxi skirts continues. Taylor Tomasi Hill and model Kinga Rajzak both wearing a gorgeous printed Ann Demeulemeester skirt from the Spring 2010 collection. Started noticing Taylor Tomasi a couple seasons back and I must say I really like her style. This is just one of the many outfits she was spotted wearing during the past fashion week.

I'm finally going to see the Valentino Retrospective exhibition tomorrow. Not sure if photos are allowed but if they are, will share some here on the blog in future posts. In the meantime, Happy mid-week everyone!=)

From Runway To Street 014

FRTS - Givenchy Striped Jacket @ Street Stylista
Givenchy Striped Jacket from Spring 2010 RTW Collection.

Some posts back, I asked if you guys loved or hated stripes. Some of you decided you love them, some alittle skeptical but willing to try out the jacket pieces. I really like how the stripes on the body/sleeves and lapel create some sort of illusion in this Givenchy striped jacket. This jacket is an absolute statement piece and I think is a rather good starting point for those fearful of stripes. Now, if only we could all afford this beautiful piece. Haha=)

From Runway To Street 013

FRTS - Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer 2010 Looks @ Street Stylista
Alexander McQueen Dresses (with the equally amazing shoes!) from Spring 2010 RTW Collection.

First spotted in Lady Gaga's 'Bad Romance' MTV shortly after the collection was shown at Paris Fashion Week last year, the amazing pieces from McQueen's Spring 2010 collection have since been spotted on celebrities and one Singaporean fashionista.

Camilla Belle in a gorgeous piece which Karlie Kloss wore during the runway show. Not exactly familiar with her to be honset, I remember reading that she used to date a Jonas brother. Yup, I remember tabloid nonsense.

Daphne Guinness in another dress with the amazing jewelled neckline from the collection. She's also wearing the towering Armadillo shoe which was one of the most talked about footwear for the Spring 2010 collections. Something different though was that she styled the outfit with the huge silver metal gladiator-ish belt. I personally liked the original look without the belt more. What do you think?

FRTS - Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer 2010 Looks @ Street Stylista

Oh! Look who I spotted?? For those of you not living in Singapore, you might not be familiar with her. Dr Georgia Lee is a famous aesthetic doctor here in Singapore and also somewhat of a fashionista. Last year at the Audi Fashion Festival, she had her own show where she walked the runway with an entourage of male models. This year at the AFF, she was spotted wearing the latest designer pieces at all the major shows. Here, she is photographed at Milan Mens Fashion Week wearing a McQueen printed dress paired with leggings. Random nugget, I read somewhere that she once bought a pair of Balenciaga leggings for 10k or more? As much as I <3 Balenciaga, it's kinda crazy IMHO.

FRTS - Marc by Marc Jacobs Romper @ Street Stylista
Marc by Marc Jacobs Printed Romper from Spring 2010 RTW Collection.

I initially thought this piece was a dress and when I went to watch the runway video (3:02-3:09) to make sure, I think it's actually a romper. Correct me if I'm wrong. Love the prints and colours in this collection.

Hi, I'm Back And I'm Going To Fashion Week! + FRTS + Blogshop Updates

Hello, I'm back again! Hope you missed me. Haha. I guess I didn't have much inspiration or more like I was just lazy to blog for the past couple of weeks.

*Long post ahead.

Anyway, fashion week is here!!! The Audi Fashion Festival & Blueprint event is starting from today (well, techinically yesterday since its already the 28th) up till the end of the week. It's gonna be a whole week of fashion glitz & glamour! Got tickets for the opening show of AFF by Dsquared² which takes place today, am really looking forward to watching it! I read that Carmen Kass will be opening the Dsquared² show, plus the designers Dean & Dan Caten are coming. Unlike fashion week in Paris, Milan, London & New York where designers of the label usually appear at the end of each show, here in Singapore, we only get to see a selceted few designers who are able to make the appearance (as in international names). Which makes the show more exciting than usual. I read that Henry Holland is also coming. And maybe Mr. Cavalli? Tickets to alot of shows are already sold out (when I last checked), but if you'll like to experience the thrill of watching a real fashion show (you won't regret it, trust me), hurry up and purchase tickets to shows that still have available seats!

So, did you guys watched the Star Awards* on Sunday? I missed the red carpet segment so didn't really get to see who wore what. I did see some pictures from the event and saw S/S2010 looks from Miu Miu, Burberry & Gucci.

The Miu Miu Spring 2010 collection is one of the most coveted & discussed collection among fashion bloggers this season. Yvonne Lim wears a cat print sequinned top from the collection.

Random fan-girl moment: Godfrey Gao came! And so did Mark Chao. Mel is a new fan of GG! Hilarious. But he is tall, handsome AND hot.

Mel, this is for you=P

Lastly, here's a preview of the new mini collection that'll be up in the shop soon (sometime this week). Thanks M&M (haha, I love initials) who helped me out with the shoot. Love you guys!

Wow, just realised this post is such a random mix of things. Anyway, hopefully I'll be able to get some pics from fashion week to share on the blog. In the meantime, have a Happy Wednesday!=)

*For everyone who don't live in Singapore, the Star Awards is an annual award ceremony something like the Emmys.

The Spy - Chanel Spring/Summer 2010

Saw this video on Bryanboy a few days back. Had to share it! I wonder what gave them the idea of the hidden camera. Apparently, it was hidden somewhere in the model's hair? Loved it anyway. Well, take a good look at the craziness and adrenaline that goes on backstage during a fashion show. Fun stuff! Model is Nastya Karzan. Spot Uncle Karl at 1:38, 1:49 & 4:05. Enjoy!

O! Since it's Chanel, what do you think of this?? Supersize! Loves!

London Fashion Week Spring 2010 Roundup

*Long post ahead*

So, London Fashion Week has just ended. Here are some of the collections I like/kinda like/not feeling (I didn't go through all LFW collections though):

Sass & Bide Spring 2010 London Fashion Week @ Street Stylista
Sass & Bide Spring 2010 (Details) London Fashion Week @ Street Stylista

Sass & Bide has to be one of my favourite collections for Spring 2010 so far. I love the combination of the hard and soft elements, the structured metal pieces forming patterns on soft, flowy fabrics bringing out feminitiy with an edge. Especially love the metal ring dress and metal-esque leggings. And those shoes! Fab Fab Fab!

Burberry Prorsum Spring 2010 London Fashion Week @ Street Stylista

And of course, I love the shinest silver paillette-encrusted coat at Burberry. Haha. The close-up shot is way more breathtaking. Love the knotted draping technique used on almost every possible piece of clothing. Dresses, skirts, jackets, trenchcoats and even pants! Pretty cool stuff.

Basso & Brooke Spring 2010 London Fashion Week @ Street Stylista

Prints and colours, I love love love! Once again, amazing digital prints from Basso & Brooke.

Josh Goot Spring 2010 London Fashion Week @ Street Stylista

This is the first time I've heard of Australian designer Josh Goot and he's got this whole colours+prints thing going on as well so what do you think? I like it. Nothing exciting silhoutte-wise but his graphic prints (check out those 3D looking prints) are pretty interesting no?

Matthew Williamson Spring 2010 London Fashion Week @ Street Stylista

Love the detailing (triangular metal plates, cut-out sequinned dress, 3D sequinned flowers on dresses & sleeves, ruching, just to name a few) and the futuristic necklaces.

Luella Spring 2010 London Fashion Week @ Street Stylista

Cute dresses here. Even Alexa Chung is a fan. This whole big bow trend, however, not really feeling much for it. Been seeing too much of that plus the lace rabbit ears lately.

Christopher Kane Spring 2010 London Fashion Week @ Street Stylista

I know many bloggers have been raving about this collection alot. Could it be the effect of the immense popularity of his recent capsule collection for Topshop (coming soon to Singapore btw)? I really liked Christopher Kane's Resort Collection earlier on but this one, I'm not really feeling entirely. The thigh high slits on not one but both sides? Don't know about that. I much prefer the dresses without the slits like the one in the middle. Not a fan of gingham as well, guess the things I did like were the pleated chiffon and bustier detail on the dresses.

Phew, that was a long one. Eagerly awaiting what Milan & Paris has to offer.

New York Fashion Week Spring 2010 (Part 2)

Alexander Wang Spring 2010 1
Alexander Wang Spring 2010 2
Alexander Wang Spring 2010 3

As always, many are gonna want/lust after pieces from Alexander Wang's latest collection. I must say, besides creating very wearable pieces (which I guess is/should be the top priority in this economy), his attention to detail is impeccable. Check out the back view detail shots of his garments on style.com. The laced/zipper heels! Loves!

On a side and random note, you know, I've always been amused at non-chinese speaking AND 'fashion people' pronouncing the 'Wang' surname. But I guess you get used to it, even Vera & Alexander themselves pronounce it 'that way'.

New York Fashion Week Spring 2010 (Part 1)

Jason Wu Spring 2010
L.A.M.B Spring 2010
Erin Wasson x RVCA Spring 2010

I won't be doing collages for all shows (too many shows happening every day), probably only for those I like or have interesting pieces. Reviews & pictures are aplenty, get your fingers working and search. Love the dresses from Jason Wu btw. Mimi, inspirations maybe?

Whitney Eve

Reality star Whitney Port from The Hills/The City rose from working behind the scenes of fashion shows to producing and showing her own line at fashion week. Whitney showcased for the first time, her label Whitney Eve during the ongoing New York Spring 2010 Fashion Week. In the preview video of the new season of The City, there was a part where she mentioned to Kelly Cutrone (her boss at PR) something about wanting to start her own line. Not so sure if MTV will actually show footage of the actual fashion show though. Will have to wait and see when the new season returns on September 29.

Vena Cava Spring 2010: Safety Pin Dress

Vena Cava Spring 2010

Using safety pins to create wearable garments isn't exactly a new thing but I think this safety pin dress is really nice. A basic black dress styled with the safety pins gives the totally wearable dress a subtle edge. Speaking of safety pins, I am reminded of some of my friend's excellent pieces from his graduation collection. I shall go steal some pictures from him (with permission of course) and post it here soon.
