AFF 2010 (Day 4&5): House Of Holland & Roberto Cavalli

*Long post ahead. Unforgettable experience, must write in detail. Haha.

Last year, it was major disappointment when I missed the opportunity to see both Gareth Pugh in person and his collection at the AFF 2009 due to a reshuffling of schedules. Guess what? This year, the AMAZING experience and crazy fashion moments totally made up for it. Seeing the Caten twins, Carmen Kass and Tokio Hotel during the opening Dsquared² show was just the start of more exciting encounters during the festival.

House Of Holland

Probably one of the most fun shows of AFF. The music was really good, models were dancing backstage before they took their turn on the runway. I really liked the furry-ish bag which came in the shape of the HOH logo (forgot to take a pic of it!). Very cute!

The Charlotte Olympia platform wedge shoe for the HOH show was pretty cool and really high. The models towered way above us all after putting them on. Check out the other variations of the shoe here. And now for the exciting part!

Henry Holland in da house yo! Haha. He was standing there doing a quick photocall for some backstage photographers so of course I swiftly snapped a pic in the process and since I didn't get a photo WITH him, will make do with one OF him. Haha. Don't judge. And that was just part one. Recognise the other person in the pic above? Before the HH photocall, I was standing at a corner chatting with a friend and happen to turn my head towards the area where people were just hanging around and spotted who else but Bryanboy(!!) just standing there snapping photos. If you don't read fashion blogs, you probably are not familiar with Bryanboy. Famous fashion blogger, has a Marc Jacobs bag named after him, HH's new bff. Quickly grabbed my friend along and approached him for a photo. No diva airs at all, he's extremely nice and very obliging. I think he's like photo ready most of the time considering the fact that he promptly put on his Marc Jacobs sunglasses before the photo was snapped. I look like shit here btw but whateva man, I was exhausted (being up since 6am) and I blend in with the table curtains, fabulous I know.

Roberto Cavalli

Roberto Cavalli was the closing show and definite highlight of AFF. Celebrating his 40th Anniversary, the Cavalli show started off with the F/W 2010 collection, followed by a special showcase of pieces from the Cavalli archives. I think the most O.M.G moment was seeing Mr. Cavalli in the flesh. Just before the show started, he appeared backstage swamped by photographers and I swear, the room literally went into buzz overdrive. Even the models started whipping out their cameras hoping to snap a photo with the man himself. Unfortunately I didn't managed to snap a photo of Mr. Cavalli but just being in the same room with him is already enough to make it to one of my top fashion moments. Random 101, he sure is tan.

Lucky enough, I had the chance to see and touch the clothes upclose which was pretty much exciting itself. Luxe and glam were the two words that immediately came to mind when I saw the clothes upclose. The fur coat (on model third from left), not to sound weird or anything, but I seriously couldn't stop caressing it. It was SOOOOO soft, I wanted to wrap it around and just lay down. Haha.

Didn't manage to take that many photos, mostly individual pics with models which I look absolutely hideous in so am not gonna post those. Just imagine looking twice the body size and half the height of the models and you'll get my point. Besides Carmen Kass, Korean supermodel Song Kyunga (right) was the other big name to grace AFF. TBH, I'm not exactly very familiar with Song but she can speak English pretty well and like BB, is extremely nice and obliging for photos.

One of the things that most people aren't aware of or don't see is the craziness that takes place backstage during a fashion show. The Cavalli show is possibly one of the most intense backstage moments I've experienced so far. Because there was sort of the 'two shows in one show' thing going on here, models had to change their hairstyles after the first change which was when things started going crazy. It was impressive seeing how Team Cavalli (left) 'Made It Work' (in Tim Gunn's words), making snap decisions and working extremely quickly with no signs of panic. Then again, they do this like 2-3 times every year in Milan so it's probably the norm for them. The girl on the right if I'm not wrong is assistant to the Head Dresser of AFF. Unfortunately, I can't seem to recall her name, but yet again, another really nice person I met at the AFF.

Finally a decent looking pic which I took at the red carpet backdrop at the entrance of the Tents before I left. AFF this year was an unforgettable experience and it gave me some of my best fashion moments which I'll treasure forever. Totally can't wait for AFF next year! Til then, it's back to reality. Regular posting will resume soon!

*If you missed the action that went on at AFF, check out RazorTV for videos and coverage of the event. I myself missed some really good shows as well (Marchesa, alldressedup, KTZ).
