Hey guys! Hope 2009 was a great year for all of you. Is there anyone or anything you're thankful for this year? I'm thankful for people who actually bother/take time to read/comment on the blog, hopefully the blog will go on and move more towards the direction I had originally intended. I am also extremely thankful for the very few people who truly understands and genuinely support my talks about dreams and plans (having the usual "maybe you should/why don't you..." which I've probably heard and smile through a million times this year takes one hell of a high tolerance level). Let's all hope and look forward to a fantastic year 2010! HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone!!!=)

I Can't Believe I'm In A Good Mood On A Monday But...
*Note: Long post ahead.
This past weekend has been a great one to say the least. Maybe it's the spirit of x'mas crawling up or maybe I had such fun meeting friends I haven't seen in awhile AND I went shopping! My friend (together with her mum) from Shanghai visited over the weekend where we did some catching up and checking out the newly opened Crystal Jade HK cafe at Orchard Central (might post pics of the food in another post). Went to check out the huge F21 store @ 313 (which I mentioned in the post below) as well. Ended up purchasing a dress and accessories for only $39! Cheap or what?! Gonna buy shoes the next time I go there! Also met up with M for the dress fitting, catching up, gossiping, and ended up doing unplanned x'mas shopping.
But the best of all has to be this...
I love discovering new blogs/sites and Lacee Swan is a new blog I came across very recently from Mr Newton's site (which I actually came across from another street style site, can't remember which one though). So, when I checked out Lacee's site, she happened to have this giveaway for a Ranya Tee, which is her own illustration/sketch of Russian model Ranya Mordanova printed on an AA T-shirt. As close friends would already know, I have this thing for faces on clothes or bags (I don't really know exactly why so don't ask..haha), so I tried my luck since it was one of the very few giveaways that the blogger was willing to mail anywhere in the world. And guess what??!!
Pardon me for being so very excited and feeling lucky but hello?! It's like the first time I've ever won anything from a giveaway?! Not that I tried my luck at many in the first place. Thank you so much Lacee! It's such a fantastic X'mas present!=) Do check out Lacee's blog, she's does really nice illustrations & sketches. If you like the tee, I believe she's selling them on her site as well, besides the Ranya Tee, there's also the Lara (Stone) Tee & Dree (Hemingway) Tee.
Lastly, today's the bff's birthday! Happy Birthday S! Hope you got my msg!
PS: I know there's this whole initials replacing names thing going on in this post. Well, I just finished a season of Gossip Girl, maybe that explains why. Have a great week ahead!

Saga Magazine
Helsinki
Model: Julia Valimaki / Photographer: Lasse Bak Mejlvang / Stylist: Vibe Dabelsteen
I thought this was a pretty fun editorial with an interesting concept. Which reminds me that I should go buy some film so I can start using my polaroid camera again, maybe in time for x'mas!
On a side note, if you haven't been to 313 @ Somerset, the new shopping mall next to Somerset MRT (it's linked to the mrt btw), go check it out. Most of the shops are already open and alot of them are having opening specials right now. But of course, like Ion Orchard when it first opened, it's extremely packed with people on weekends, which is not exactly a good time to go for people who hate crowds. I'm excited to check out the HUGE F21 store there which wasn't open yet when I went couple weeks back. Apparently, the store's much larger than I expected (I thought it was 2 levels, but heard from a friend it's actually 4 levels!). To my F21-addict friend (you know who you are), you HAVE to go check out the store! Have a great weekend everyone!

Comme des Garçons for Barbie
Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons has designed a limited edition Jingle Flowers themed printed dress for Barbie as part of the Barbie Collector Platinum Label Collection for Christmas. Too bad the CDG store left Singapore awhile ago, else we might have a chance to actually see the piece in person. You can try getting a piece online (I think?) or from Japan or any other countries that has a CDG store.

I Spy A Merlion
(Yvan Rodic - Spotted @ Sydney)
Wasn't exactly sure how to react when I saw this (I think I went wow with surprise at first that someone would actually think of getting that tattoo, then it turned to hmm...). I guess it's kinda the same feeling you'll get when you see someone with...hmm, say a Great Wall of China tattoo? Or like an Eiffel Tower tattoo? Haha, I hope I'm making sense here. Oh btw, for everyone else who don't live in Singapore, the tattoo is that of an iconic statue here in Singapore called the Merlion.

Lady Gaga for Elle US January 2010
"I feel that if I can show my demise artistically to the public, I can somehow cure my own legend. I can show you so you’re not looking for it. I’m dying for you on domestic television—here’s what it looks like, so no one has to wonder." Lady Gaga
Elle US January 2010
Celebrity: Lady Gaga / Photographer: Tom Munro / Stylist: Joe Zee
I've always wondered if people actually liked or hated her more. I mean, she's not exactly your typical pop star. Very out there, in your face, controversial and maybe to some, alittle overrated? I guess I would consider myself a fan since I really like how she tries to differentiate herself from others through her styling and is actually good at it. Of course, she does have a fabulous team working with her to bring creative visions to life. I kinda realised that I do post quite abit on Lady Gaga here on the blog which honestly, is unintentional. I guess when an image or idea speaks/inspires/jumps out etc. at me, I just share it on the blog. Speaking of which, lately I've been having some thoughts regarding the blog. Will probably blog about it another day.

Sand Drawing
I've never heard about this form of art before and was definitely in awe after watching the video. The artist is amazing. I'm mostly amazed at how quickly she 'draws', complete with expressions and emotions and how there's actaully a story invovled in the whole thing. Video's a little long but you won't regret watching it.

Yellow
Love the outfits of the two girls above paired with yellow leggings. I'm trying to recall if I actually saw anyone at all wearing yellow leggings here in Singapore but don't seem to have any form of image in my head, so I'm assuming I haven't. I love wearing leggings myself but so far, I've stuck to the easy-to-match colours - black, navy blue, grey and the occasional patterned ones. I do have pink ones which I would love to finally wear someday once I get pass the thought of attracting endless stares at the pink legs.

Lookback 002: 'Anna' v.s. Anna
Vogue Paris August 2007
L'lcone
Model: Snejana Onopka / Photographer: Mario Testino / Stylist: Carine Roitfeld
Saw this editorial yesterday while surfing around. Some of the shots really captured the mannerisms of Anna Wintour. And of course, the styling helped alot. Totally reminded me of The September Issue. Speaking of which, found the movie at tudou. Watch it if you haven't.

Goodbye Daul Kim
I just started reading her blog either last month or a couple months back. It's definitely shocking to hear that such a young and successful person has now gone to a whole new place. You will be missed Daul.
PS: I hope her last post title which she wrote just a day before the incident happened wasn't an indication of things.

Vogue India September 2009: Made In India
Most editorials use one or a couple of girls for a story. Beauty eds maybe around three to five at the most. We hardly ever see editorials with so many models in a shot together which is a rather refreshing change.
