Saw this editorial in the latest issue of Elle Singapore and thought it was a great idea to share it with you guys as it sort of give you a glimpse into some of our iconic buildings and locations here in Singapore. The colourful high rise bulidings (known as HDBs) you see in the third and last pic is home to majority of the population here. Kinda like what you would call an apartment in the US (ie. living in the same block with many other strangers you call neighbours). Singapore's a really tiny place and these builidngs provide everyone with a place to call home. Then we have what we call shophouses (4th pic) which are considered historical buildings with more than 100 years of history (I believe. History wasn't exactly my strongest subject back in school. Haha.). And the stone table with the chess board you see in the first pic? Hop over to Chinatown and you'll definitely find groups of senior citizens engaging in one of their favourite pastime, pitting their chess skills against each other.
Ok, so I literally just gave a mini history lesson but there is a good enough reason. In 2 days, Singapore will be celebrating it's 45th birthday! Since I noticed alot of you readers are located everywhere over the world, I figured it'll be rather fitting to share abit of my home country with you guys. To my fellow Singaporeans, Happy National Day in advance! Enjoy the long weekend, and to everyone else, hope you too have a wonderful weekend!!=)
